I'd like to take this opportunity to warn fellow netters wrt
to the mediaphile products...
The short story: I purchased a mediaphile set-up with the hopes
of getting a working edit system going.
Result: I sold it a few months back and got a FutureVideo
edit controler with V-Station edit software and I'm now a
happy camper.
I found the mediaphile software to be _very_ cumbersome, _very_
slow, and _very_ difficult to 'tune' to video decks. Technical
support is poor... where one should expect 'help with an attitude'
if at all. The manual is only so-so. Also, the installation
routine that shipped with mediaphile is *SYSTEM HOSTILE*. It moves
some of your system files _to new locations_ without asking you
first. It took me quite some time to get things back in order
once the mediaphile install routine was finished rearranging things.
Of the many dozens of software packages I have installed, I have
never experienced such an arrogant installation routine like this.
It should be a crime... (where are the installation police when
you need them :-)
I went through a couple of upgrades hoping for improvements in these
areas, but was always disappointed. More wasted $$$.
My advice: steer clear of mediaphile... it's bad news...
I've received the latest version of V-Station Pro. My initial
impression of it is very good. Deck controls even appear on the
toaster switcher!
As a video pro that has spent a lot of money (and wasted a fair
amount) on Amiga video products, I only hope that I can help
save others some of the headaches I've had with inferior products
and producers.
